GLENWOOD - The 2008 edition of the Pike County Fair and Rodeo opens next Monday, September 15 with booth set up and continues through Saturday, September 20. The parade will be at 6:30 p.m on Tuesday, September 16.
The theme for this year’s fair is “Where The Best Come To Shine” and no doubt Pike County’s finest will be.
According to the Pike County Fair Catalog, the theme showcases 100 years of 4-H in Arkansas.
This will be the 56th annual fair held at the Pike County Fairgrounds since Glenwood was chosen as the permanent site of the fair in October 1951.
Below is a day by day schedule of events for the fair:
Monday, September 15 -
Livestock arrive - 8 a.m.
Educational booths and exhibits may be set up - all day.
Food preservation, clothing, horticulture, crafts, art, plants, needlework, photography, posters can be set up - all day.
Rodeo royalty judging - 6 p.m.
Concession stand opens - 6 p.m.
Tuesday, September 16 -
Baking and flower show - 8-9 a.m.
Judging of entries and exhibits, hall closed during judging - 9 a.m.
All livestock exhibits must be in place by noon.
Parade entries in place - 6 p.m. at glove factory.
Parade beings 6:30 p.m.
Talent show begins after parade.
Midway opens.
Wednesday, September 17-
Poultry and rabbits judged
