AMITY – A local man was apparently shot by his wife around midnight Tuesday, July 7 at their residence at 312 Norris Road, which is located north of Amity, just off Sugar Loaf Road between Arkansas 182 and 84.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Howard P. Skaggs, Jr. was shot in the stomach by his wife, Christy Skaggs, 46, after an argument.
Christy Skaggs was later booked into the Clark County Jail on First Degree Battery.

Howard Skaggs was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Clark County Sheriff David Turner said that the couple’s two children were also inside the home when the shot was fired, but they were not hurt.
