Betty Turley, 60, local volunteer, Aug. 22Betty Turley, 60, of Nashville, died August 22, 2008, at a Texarkana hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1947 in Highland, the daughter of Dewey and Nadine Cooley Hicks.
Betty was an active member of the Mineral Springs church of Christ. She was a volunteer for the Relay for Life, the Howard County Children’s Center, and was the organizer for the food and card ministries that touched a multitude of lives throughout. Betty loved her church family, and especially her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the class of 1965. She loved her classmates and was the backbone for their reunions and maintaining their closeness. Betty was employed by Tyson for over 19 years as the operations clerk, which she truly enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dewey Hicks.
Survivors include one son, Bryan Turley of Nashville; one daughter, Kristi and husband Larry Jackson of Springdale; mother, Nadine Hicks of Nashville; one brother, Carroll “Bubba” Hicks of Nashville; one sister, Carolyn “Sissy” and husband Benny Frasher of Columbus, Miss.
‘B,’ as she was called by her three grandchildren, who survive her, include, Dylan Sublette, Justin Turley, and Brittany Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mon., Aug. 25, at Mineral Springs church of Christ, with Randy Hughes, a close friend, and Robert Peek officiating, with Mike Reese leading a special prayer.
Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
Visitation was Sunday evening at the funeral home.
