Business Appreciation nominees announcedGLENWOOD – The Glenwood Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 24th annual Business Appreciation Banquet. This year’s event is scheduled for Friday, May 9 at 7 p.m. at the Glenwood Senior Activity Center located on Betty St. There will be a brief “meet and greet” before dinner, allowing you to freshen up and tour the facility and the new activity room.
This year the emphasis is on tourism as we present “Our Future On the Caddo.” This year’s speaker will be Mr. Steve Arrison, CEO of the Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission, Member Arkansas Parks, Recreation and Travel Commission, and CEO of the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Centerpoint Jazz Band will entertain as we lead up to the grand finale—the awards to honor those who represent our area’s finest!
This year the Chamber asked you —the public— to nominate who you believe are most deserving of the awards listed below. The nominees are: Business of the Year - Del Mesa, Little Italy, Blackmon Oil, Dollar General, Susie’s Kountry Kitchen, Diamond Bank, John Plyler, El Diamante, Phil’s Pharmacy and Kenny McGrew’s Barber Shop.
Employee of the Year - Terry Lambert of Del Mesa, Charlotte Blair of Diamond Bank, Gala Morris of First National Bank, David Shultz of Phil’s Pharmacy, Marcella Valdez of El Diamante, Sandra Cowart of Susie’s Kountry Kitchen, Lynda Robbins of Diamond Bank, Courtney Horn of St. Joseph’s, Kathryn Baxter of Diamond Bank and Pat Standridge of Dollar General.
Senior Citizen of the Year - Lillian Staples, Bill Wilson, Wick Howell, Sam Adams, Delbert Daniels, Phil Buck, Altie Williams, Mary Lacefield, Marjorie Melchier and Marietta Baldwin.
Volunteer of the Year - Wick Howell, Ron Kurnik, Debbie Whisenhunt, Susie Cantrell and Sam Adams.
Non-Profit of the Year - Glenwood Regional Chamber of Commerce, Pike County Fair Association, First Step, Inc, Glenwood Christian School, Helping Hand Store, Senior Adult Center, CADC, Olds Foundation and Centerpoint Optimist Club.
Tickets for the banquet may be purchased at $15 each at Diamond Bank, First National Bank, Wright’s Food Center and Susie’s Kountry Kitchen.
The Chamber is inviting all guests to bring a small “centerpiece” that represents your particular business or occupation. (Example: golf tee and ball for Golf Course, Toy police car for officers, Company cap with logo, gavel for auctioneer, business brochure/cards, etc.)
