NORMAN - With graduation and the end of the school year quickly approaching, the Caddo Hills School Board was informed by the administration on Monday, April 14, of the myriad of events to be performed by the staff and students this month and next.

After quick approval of prior meeting minutes and paid warrants, board members Keith Horn, Terry Foshee, Allen Cureton and Joey Powell heard reports from High School Principal Stacy Vines and Elementary Principal Paul Shelton. Caddo Board President John Hollifield came in from work about 25 minutes into the Monday night meeting. Before the reports by Vines and Shelton, Superintendent Don Henley said the final check to the architect for the Middle School will be paid this month. The vast majority of the check list of last minute things were accomplished during the Spring Break.

Vines informed the board members that Benchmark Tests for grades three through eight were currently underway. On Thursday and Friday of this week, decorations will be put up for the Junior-Senior Prom. The prom is Saturday, April 19, at the high school cafeteria.

Vines continued by saying May will be an extremely busy month with five banquets planned. On May 20, a banquet called The Event will be held at Caddo Hills. It will be sponsored by the local Glenwood radio station and honor the male and female students of the year. Each school in the station’s listening area can nominate one boy and one girl for consideration. The schools will host the annual event in alphabetical order. Caddo will be this year’s host with Centerpoint the host school in 2009.

End-of-course testing for grades 9-11 will be in May. Graduation for the Class of 2008 is set for Friday, May 23.

Elementary Principal Shelton stated that April 28-30 will be the Battle of the Books for grades one through four. Students will be quizzed on story content on books they have read through the year.
