Carl Owens, 93, WWII vet/rancher, May 12Carl W. “Bill” Owens, 93, of Wake Village, Texas died May 12, 2008 at a local hospital.
He was born Oct. 24, 1914 in Kansas City, Mo.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was president of Sevier Co. Farm Bureau for seven years; president of Lockesburg School Board from 1960-70; a member of Lockesburg Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher; a member of Lakeside Methodist Church in Pine Bluff; and a cattle rancher for 44 years in Lockesburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Owens.
He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Linda April Stavely of Nashville, and Judith L. and Rick Tremblay of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Karen Kaylor of New York, NY, Jason Tremblay of Austin, Texas, Brian Tremblay of Shawnee Mission, Kan., Robbie Stavely of Nashville, and Mark Stavely of Fayetteville; and special caregivers, Judy Parker of Atlanta, Texas and Annette McCandless of Texarkana, Texas.
Funeral services were held Wed., May 14, at East Memorial Chapel, Downtown, Texarkana.
Burial was in State Line Cemetery, under the direction of East Funeral Home.
Family received friends Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Lockesburg United Methodist Church or Salvation Army.
