GLENWOOD - New resident Susan Jackson has accepted a position with the Chamber of Commerce as operations manager.
Jackson, a San Benito, Texas transplant, began manning the chamber office at the historic Glenwood Depot, earlier this month. Her hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As of now, the office will not be open on weekends.
Her duties are answering the phone and recording messages, stuffing envelopes, greeting visitors, giving directions and giving tours of the depot/museum with a history of our area.
The depot also has business cards, brochures and other literature, pens and calendars from local businesses for travellers who are passing through or are interested in Glenwood.
Jackson was born and raised in San Benito and married her husband, Bill, in 1968. They moved to Denton, Texas in 1980 and lived there until retirement, which brought them to their new home on Broadway in Glenwood last August.
“We love it here,” she says. “I enjoy the mountains, parks and lakes.”
Jackson and her family would come to Hot Springs and vacation through the years and enjoyed the bath houses and the horse races and the proximity of all the area lakes.
