Cookin’ for Kids brisket cook-off and Fun Run to be held September 3, 2008 - No reporter cited

The Cookin’ for Kids brisket cook-off will be held on Saturday, September 6, in Delight. All cookers will be set up on Friday night, September 5, in the parking lot between McKnight’s Grocery and the Bank of Delight. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. until all the food is gone.

Prices are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Meals will be served buffet style and will include one drink.

On Friday, September 5, free hot dogs will be provided in the evening. Live entertainment, games for kids, and climbing walls will be provided both Friday and Saturday.

Bring your own lawn chair and enjoy the food, fun and festivities.

Along with the cook-off, this year a Fun Run is being held on Saturday the 6, for all children ages 0-12. Packet pick up will start at 7:30 a.m on Saturday morning and the first race will begin at 9 a.m. Preregistration is $10 and includes a T-shirt a medallion, and other goodies for all participants.

There will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes given in each ages division beginning with ages 5.

Each participant will be eligible for door prizes and all will be entered in a drawing to win a girl’s bike and a boy’s bike.

Registration forms can be picked up at local merchants and should be returned to the Bank of Delight by September 1. Registration on the day of the race will be $12.

As with last year, the net proceeds of both events will go to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-South. Last year we were able to donate approximately $4100.

The foundation grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions. It is a wonderful organization that truly appreciates all of the support they receive.
