GLENWOOD – Representives of the Governor’s Dislocated Worker Task Force were in town last week to meet with local and county officials about how best to deal with the closure of Bean Lumber Co. Inc.
Tim Bean, president, as well as Grady Bean and Dora Lee Bean, were present to offer their input and to let the assembled know exactly where the company was headed.
According to Tim Bean, company officials are “reviewing production schedules and are looking at streamlining the company so we can operate more effectively.”
“This means we may sell off some assets, but we would sell to somebody that would continue to operate the company,” he added.
This means that some people will not be coming back to work once the mills reopen. It also leaves the door open to the possibility that the company may be sold to interested parties.
