Depot ribbon cutting set for this Saturday August 27, 2008 - No reporter cited

GLENWOOD – The Glenwood Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the Glenwood Centennial Kickoff Celebration this Saturday, August 30 beginning at 5 p.m. at the depot and old gym on Highway 70.

The ribbon cutting for the newly restored depot will be at 5 p.m. and tours of the facility will be held.

The depot is nearing completion of the first two stages of the renovation. This was the exterior and interior renovations. Stage three will be the parking lot, landscaping and the possible restoration of the second floor of the facility.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be ready to eat at 5:30 p.m. The King will visit with an Elvis impersonator show from 6 to 7:30 p.m. featuring Jerry Griffin.

At 8:30 p.m., the second show starts with The Ghost Riders featuring tunes from the Beatles, Credence Clearwater Revival, to Hank Williams, both senior and junior.

Come dance or enjoy a night of good entertainment. Tickets are on sale now. The advance show tickets are $5 per show for adults and $2.50 for students.

Preschool children are free.

Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are on sale now at Susie’s Kountry Kitchen or contact a chamber board member.
