DIERKS – Howard County Sheriff’s Investigators are looking into the Wednesday death of a two-month-old Dierks infant.

Investigator David Shelton confirmed Thursday that the Dierks Police Department received a call at 5:32 p.m., about an infant that was not breathing at 705 Herman Avenue.

Officer Jason Icenhower found the infant - who was not breathing - on the couch and started CPR and called for assistance, Shelton said.

The Dierks First Responders and the Howard County Ambulance Service responded to the call. Tristan Oaks was transported to the Howard Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The state crime lab will conduct a mandatory autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Investigator Bryan McJunkins explained that “the autopsy is mandatory because of the child’s age.”

Tristan is the son Darrell and Marci Oaks.

At this time, foul play is not suspected.
