Fletcher-Spears united in marriage November 10Laura Ashby Fletcher and Ryan Glynn Spears exchanged marriage vows at 6 p.m. Saturday November 10, 2007, in First Baptist Church.
Dr. David Blase officiated.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fletcher of Nashville. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ashby Wilkinson of El Paso, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fletcher of Montgomery, La.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Spears of Spring, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Lillian Grass and the late Mr. Joseph Grass of Siloam Springs, Mrs. Ivy Spears and the late A.G. Spears of Belle Chasse, La.
The sanctuary was decorated with pedestal arrangements of fall-blooming flowers including: gladiolas, mums, pom-pom mums, alstroemeria, green hydrangea, and roses in shades of red, deep burgundy, burnt orange, crème, and gold with red trim. Lighting for the ceremony was provided by banks of candles at the altar and outside entry was lit with hanging lanterns. Music was by pianists Jaree Hall and Barry Wright and soloists, Dan Telford and Emily Telford, who sang “Wonderful Merciful Savior” and “A Page Is Turned.”
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown with a ruched strapless bodice and a chapel length train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of roses, calla lilies, Bells of Ireland, and hypericum in shades of red, orange, burgundy, and yellow accented with a white satin ribbon.
Mrs. Ellen Cortez of Bryant served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Leslie Fulcher and Ashley Thompson of Bryant, Kristen Spigner of Little Rock, Jamie Sue Nance of Richmond, Va., Whitney Parrish of Drasco, and Jennifer Calvillo of Grand Prairie, Texas.
They wore gowns of chocolate brown iridescent taffeta with ruched bodices. Their bouquets were filled with hypericum, alstroemeria, and roses in shades of red, deep burgundy, burnt orange, and yellow and were hand-tied with chocolate brown satin ribbon.
The flower girl was Victoria Cortez of Bryant. She wore a white satin dress with a sheer overlay on the skirt and a chocolate brown satin ribbon at the waist.
Best man was brother of the groom, Robbie Spears of Arkadelphia. Groomsmen were Alex Denning of Mesquite, Texas, Aaron Holman of Austin, Texas, Joel
Fletcher of Conway, Sean Townsend of Houston, Texas, Jeff Cogburn of McKinney, Texas, and Brandon Howell of Commerce, Texas.
They wore suits of chocolate brown with white pleated shirts, brown satin vests and ties accented with boutonnières of red roses and hypericum.
A reception in the fellowship hall of First Baptist followed the ceremony. The buffet held arrangements of various fall flowers and was lit by wrought iron lanterns. Guest tables were covered in chocolate brown satin overlays and held wrought iron candelabras accented with asparagus fern, roses, green
hydrangeas, and alstromeria in various fall colors surrounded by tea lights. Music was provided by Barry Wright.
Assisting were Melissa Dunn, Kristi Deen, and Amanda Moore all cousins of the bride, and Sarah Curry, Lizann Tollett, and Mendy Woodruff Wright.
The bride has a bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist University and a master’s degree in communication disorders from Texas Christian University.
She currently is employed as a speech pathologist with Pediatric Specialty Care in Benton.
The bridegroom has a bachelor’s degree with a double major in physics and communications from Ouachita Baptist University. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in applied communication at UALR.
After a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple will make their home in Bryant.
