Former GHS property sells for $893,750 April 23, 2008 - No reporter cited

GLENWOOD - The auction of the former Glenwood High School property was held last Thursday with all parcels being sold, except one, for a total of $893,750.
Fowler Auctioneers conducted the sale on the parcels which were offered seperately or together for a total price of $800,000.

About 60 people, including buyers from Louisiana and Minnesota, attended the auction in the Glenwood High School Gym on Highway 70, which was included in the sale.

The entire 9+ acre site at the corner of Hwys. 70 and 70B sold for an average of $85,000 per acre.

The land was bought by Curt Bean in 1997 after the Glenwood High School closed. Although it had been up for sale since that time, no one had bought it, so it was decided to put the land up for auction.

It was listed as the”best and last prime retail location in Glenwood” and it was noted that the old school buildings can be renovated or removed, depending on what the buyer (s) want to do with the location.
