Frazier property auctioned to out-of-state buyerGLENWOOD – Chuck Frazier Chevrolet, including the building, contents and land, was auctioned by Fowler Auctioneers last week. The land and building was auctioned to an out-of-state buyer who wished to remain anonymous.
Fowler Auctioneers of Glenwood was contracted by Chuck Frazier Chevrolet to conduct the huge auction. Even though GM has had its share of problems, the auction was a success.
“There are still a lot of quality Chevy dealers left in Arkansas that are doing well and looks like they will do even better now sense many have closed the doors for good,“ said auctioneer Nick Fowler.
There were several Chevy dealers to attend the auction from as far away as Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi. Some of the local dealers to attend the auction were Gentry Chevrolet in De Queen, Hope Motors, Royal Chevrolet of Foreman, Danville GMC, Landers in Benton and many more as well as many local repair shops and end users.
Everything was auctioned off from the real estate which has a contract and sale pending but as of press time had not been confirmed. Down to the office furniture, a full line of GM parts, all shop equipment, Frazier’s personal Jaguars along with his 25th anniversary addition Z-28, all types of trailers and even some of the owner’s personal furniture collections from his beautiful lake home in Hot Springs.
It was one of the hottest days of the year with temperatures soaring to 102 degrees. The auction company had prepared for the heat as they had chairs set up and brought out their huge air conditioners to keep buyers cool and comfortable while they watched a video of each item that was being auctioned while keeping up in their catalog. The auction company provided all lots numbered and itemized for the buyers. This was a very fast auction and you had to stay on your toes as the auctioneers sometimes sold as high as four lots a minute.
Over 200 attended the auction. By 11a.m. the huge parking lot was full.
“I will have to say, with all we have seen on the news about GM, I was a little concerned the turn out would be light, but thank God it wasn’t, as we had over 600 lots to sell,” said Fowler.
Chuck Frazier, former owner of the dealership, says that he is going to spend more time with his family, playing golf and enjoying his retirement.
