Is it still a race if there is a clear winner? February 21, 2008 - No reporter cited

John McCain appears to have the Republican nomination sown up, but former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee doesn’t know when to call it quits.

I wonder if Mike is trying to show that he is not a quitter, like the other candidates without a chance of winning. Maybe he thinks that McCain will be impressed with his stick-to-itiveness and ask him to be his VP candadate.

Or, maybe, Mike has a lot of time on his hands and too much money to spend and this seems to be the best way of doing it.

I like Mike. He didn’t do anything as governor that, in his and the opinion of several people, wasn’t in the best interest of our state.

Arkansas is improving, according to several national surveys. Our kids’ test scores are going up. Arkansas is no longer at the very bottom of every category that someone, somewhere else, can think of.

Mike’s biggest claim to fame will be that he was able to get a few schools to consolidate. The idea of consolidating set off a fire-storm in small rural communities, but for the most part, nothing changed.

School boards and communities found loopholes to get around the possiblity to losing their schools.

Many folks are so passionate about the name of the school that their kids attend, sometimes they forget that their kids deserve the best education they can get.

Kids are competing with others from all over the world today. It is a global community now, and we can’t just focus in on what we want in our hometown.

I don’t know that McCain has done anything for the past upteen years in Congress, but he understands the process and has worked the primaries to perfection.
But let’s face it… Does it really matter who the president is? Nothing seems to change for us little people anyway.

I am not saying ‘don’t vote.’ I want you to vote. I was taught if you don’t vote, you can’t complain. And everyone knows I like to complain.

But that is just my view from the canopy of the jungle.
