James Arnold, 86, WWII Air Force vet, April 27 April 28, 2008 - No reporter cited

James Howard Arnold, 86, of Dierks, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at a Nashville hospital.

Mr. Arnold was born Nov. 30, 1921 in Turkey, Texas, to Virgil and Luelling Howard Arnold.

He was a retired shipping clerk and security guard for Weyerhaeuser Co., a cattleman, and a member of the Dierks First United Methodist Church.

James was also a member of the Arkansas Cattleman’s Association and was an Air Force veteran, having served in World War II. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma Balch Arnold; one daughter and son-in-law, Madonna and Michael Hill of Dierks; one grandson and his wife, Damon and Lisa Hill of Fayetteville; one granddaughter and her husband, April and Brian Mashburn of Little Rock; and three great-granddaughters, Taylor and Rylee Hill and Bailey Mashburn. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tues., April 29, at First United Methodist Church, Dierks, with Revs. Gary Wiles and Ellis Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Sunshine Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
