James Jones, Jr., 55, Mason/Shriner, Aug. 21 August 24, 2009 - No reporter cited

James David “J.D.” Jones, Jr., of Council Grove, Kan., died Friday, August 21, 2009, at his residence. He was born January 19, 1954 to James David Jones, Sr. and Martha Lou Reece, in Shreveport, La.

He married Sharon Marie Talley on December 2, 1983 in Texarkana, Texas.

J.D. was a member of the Alta Vista Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and served as a Council Grove City Councilman for 5 years. He was a medical technologist for 20 years at the Morris County Hospital.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and “going on walkabouts”. He loved his job and serving on the city council. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with his family and will be sadly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of the home; parents, James David Jones, Sr. and Martha Jones, both of Nashville; sons, Henri Talley of Manhattan, Kan., and John Talley and wife Patty of Dwight, Kan.; a sister, Suzanne Peebles & husband Dr. Sammy Peebles, of Nashville; grandchildren, Krista Talley of Wichita, Kan., and Amanda and Jacob Talley, of Dwight; two nephews and a niece.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wed., Aug. 26, at Penwell-Gabel Flint Hills Funeral Home, with Father Nick Voelker officiating.

Burial will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 6- 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morris County Hospital Foundation or to the Shriners Hospital for Children and may be sent to Penwell-Gabel, 137 N. Union, Council Grove, KS 66846.
