Kelley wins medallist honors

DEQUEEN – Junior Justin Kelley of Nashville earned medallist honors Wednesday, Aug. 26, in a match at the DeQueen Country Club against the DeQueen Leopards.
The Scrappers were one shot short of a win in the match-up with a team score of 129, with DeQueen shooting 128.
“Our top two guys beat their top two guys, but we had a drop off with our next two,” Coach Johnny Wilson said when asked about the one shot loss.
Kelley and Brennan Watkins of DeQueen each shot a 40 to share the medallist honors.
Scrapper Tyler Lawrence had the third best score in the match with a 41.
Other Scrapper scores were Tres Dunn with a 47, Aaron Shanks with a 48, Austin Shanks with a 49 and Michael Steel with a 56.
Nikki Neeley of the Lady Leopards was the medallist in the girls match with a 49.
Marissa McCammack and Hayden Kirchhoff represented the Scrapperettes. McCammack shot a 53 and Kirchhoff shot a 60.
Nashville will return to the greens Tuesday, Sept. 1, when they travel to Ashdown.
