Little Scrappers take two of three games in home opener

NASHVILLE - The Nashville Scrapper Pee-Wee football teams were host to Horatio Saturday, Sept. 27, with the Little Scrappers winning two of three games.
The fourth graders got things started in a favorable fashion with a 20-6 victory.
Ty Pettway started things for the Little Scrappers with a 16 yard run, followed by quarterback Darius Hopkins 54 yard touchdown jaunt down the sideline.
Darius took the ball in again for the extra point, to give Nashville the seven-point lead.
Pettway added to the Nashville lead in the second quarter, breaking two tackles to score on a 14 yard run.
Zac Dowdle finally got Horatio on the board in the third quarter, with a 35 yard run, narrowing the Nashville lead to seven.
Pettway put the game away in the fourth when he broke through the Horatio defense on the Scrapper 30 yard line, going 70 yards for the score, giving Nashville the 20-6 victory.
In the fifth grade game, the Nashville offense never seemed able to find their bearings, losing 12-0.
The Horatio defense controlled the line of scrimmage, holding Nashville to negative yardage throughout the game.
Horatio scored two touchdowns on runs by Caleb Ward and Griffen Young.
The sixth grade team led by LaMichael Pettway returned the Little Scrappers to their winning ways with a 32-0 shutout.
L. Pettway started things off with a 70 yard kickoff return for a touchdown, giving Nashville the early six point lead.
L. Pettway added another first quarter touchdown to the board with a 61 yard run from the Nashville 39 yard line.
The second quarter wasn’t any kinder to Horatio, with L. Pettway scoring a third touchdown from 13 yards out, giving Nashville a 19 point lead.
Dougie Dixon scored the fourth touchdown of the half on a pass that he took 85 yards to the house, with 40.9 seconds left in the half.
L. Pettway added another touchdown in the fourth quarter on a fourth and long situation that went 57 yards for the score, giving Nashville a 32-0 victory.
L. Pettway rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns and passed for 150 yards on five completions and one touchdown.
Dixon led the way with three receptions for 110 yards and one touchdown for the Little Scrappers.
