Melveda Arnold, 88, of LaPlace, La., died Thursday, August 27, 2009.

She was born Oct. 14, 1920, at Chapel Hill.

She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Terry of LaPlace, La.; a sister, Billie Rae Istre of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Sat., Aug. 29, at Sardis Cemetery, with Rev. Keenan Williams officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.
