Mount Ida manhandles the PanthersMAGNET COVE — The Mount Ida Lions manhandled the Magnet Cove Panthers Friday evening in the 2007 season opener, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and then scoring touchdowns on three straight second-quarter possessions for a 35-7 lead at intermission en route to the 42-7 blowout victory.
After struggling the previous week in a scrimmage in Jessieville, the Lions corrected their mistakes for Friday’s opener, dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball to move almost at will offensively while disrupting Magnet Cove’s attack with a penetrating and hard-hitting defense.
