PRESCOTT – The Jr. Scrappers and Scrapperettes struggled on the road Monday, with both teams losing to Prescott.

The Jr. girls played well despite the loss, but Prescott pulled away from the Scrapperettes with an 18-2 fourth period, defeating Nashville 43-26.

Coach Billy Bonner was pleased with the girls effort for the most part, but admitted that they got behind early and were forced to change their game plan late.

“The game was a lot closer than the score indicates, but we were forced to foul late in the game and they were able to hit their free throws,” Bonner said.

Monisa Poole and Loretta Moncus led the Jr. Scrapperettes with seven points each, followed by Hannah Vines and Rachel Smith with five each.

Defensively, Moncus led the team with five rebounds and Maddie McJunkins was tops in steals with three.

The Nashville Jr. boys found themselves with a ten point deficit after the first period, and finished strong with a 13-10 fourth period, but it wasn’t enough for the victory, with Prescott defeating Nashville 39-29.

Brandon Bennett led the Jr. Scrappers with ten points, and teammate LaVonte Thomas adding eight.

Ethan Turner scored six and Aaron Tollett added three to the losing effort.
