NHS tops state averageThe Business Education Department at Nashville High School has proven a successful year as it received its test score averages from the Arkansas Department of Workforce Education this week.
Students statewide are given end of course assessments provided by the Career and Technical Education Unit of the ADWE.
These assessments are used to improve educational experiences of students, provide statistical information for monitoring statewide vocational programs and as support data for schools participating in the Carl Perkins federal funding program.
Arkansas vocational students were tested online in the areas of Word Processing, Accounting, and Office Management for the third quarter of the year. State wide the average test score was 74 percent for Word Processing I, 76.35 percent for Office Management and 61.76 percent for Accounting I.
Nashville High School students scored a very successful 82.17 percent average on the Word Processing test, 81.12 percent on the Office Management test and 62.18 percent on the state wide Accounting I test.
All of these vocational areas of Nashville High School tested above the state averages.
The Office Management and Accounting classes were instructed by Tammie VanScyoc and the Word Processing classes were instructed by Freddie Horne.
Students, parents and instructors in the Nashville School District are to be commended for their hard work in this educational area and their highly competitive spirit in academics as well as sports.
