Two vie for Position 4 at Murfreesboro
Recently the Diamond asked a few parents what issues were important to them about the Murfreesboro School System. The Diamond compiled a list of questions for incumbent Phil Terrell and opponent Alan Walls to answer.
Murfreesboro School Board elections will be Tuesday, September 18 at the Murfreesboro School Cafeteria Lobby. Citizens may early vote at the Pike County Clerk’s office September 10-17.
Delight to vote on tax hike
DELIGHT - Delight voters will be voting on a proposed 6-mill tax hike in the September 18 school elections. If approved, the proposal would increase the school millage to 40 mills.
At a past board meeting Carey Smith with Stephens, Inc. presented the board with several options regarding the school’s financial position. Delight Schools is faced with a declining enrollment and a deteriorating financial condition. Earlier this year, school officials considered, but ultimately tabled, merger talks with both Murfreesboro and Blevins Schools.
