Roger Elliot, 55, decorated Air Force vet, April 24Roger Wayne Elliott, 55, of Ruston, La., died Thursday, April 24, 2008 following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 9, 1952 at Barksdale Air Force Base.
Mr. Elliott was a member of the Christ Community Church, Association of Surgical Technologists, Beta Chapter, Sigma Phi Epsilon and National Peruvian Horse Association.
He also served his country for over six years in the United States Air Force, having been recognized with: the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Denise A. Elliott; son, Jordan Elliott and wife Erin of Petal, Miss.; step-daughter, Kirsten and daughter Sophia; father, L.P. Elliott, Jr. and step-mother Dee Ann Elliott; sisters, Julia Elliot of DeQueen, Kerry E. Harrison and husband Kent of Hot Springs, and Donna E. Cameron and husband Wayne of Texarkana; brother, Greg Elliott and partner Jerry Hooker of Little Rock; aunts, Jimmie Stinnett and Joy Tutt of DeQueen and Lieselotte Elliott of Bossier City; uncles, R.B. Elliott of Bossier City, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Elliott of Horatio, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Elliot of Big Bear City, Calif.; one grandchild; three nephews; a niece; three great-nephews; and a host of cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 27, at Christ Community Church, Ruston, with Revs. Dickie Love and Len Woods officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Ida Cemetery, DeQueen, with graveside services to be held at 2 p.m. Mon., April 28, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
Pallbearers werd Doctors Jim Finley, Derek McClusky, C.W. Tanner, Robert Harper, Richard Ballard, Randy McWhorter, John Brooks and David Osafo.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Wayne Owens and the remainder of N. La. Medical Center and Green Clinic Surgical Hospital staff.
Visitation was held Saturday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston; and Monday, April 28 at Wilkerson Funeral Home in DeQueen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Building Fund of Christ Community Church, 2301 N. Trenton, Ruston, LA 71270, the Cemetery Fund of Mt. Ida Cemetery, or the charity of donor’s choice.
