Sassy Chicks beat Blue Ice 15-9Dewayne Holloway

NASHVILLE - The Sassy Chicks of Nashville outscored the Blue Ice of Dierks 15-9 Monday, April 21 at the Nashville City Park.
Brooke Bowden was credited with the win for the Sassy Chicks and Kensie Stokes was noted as the losing pitcher.
Both teams started the game with a strong offensive push, scoring five runs apiece in the first inning.
The Sassy Chicks defense settled down in the second inning and Bowden stifled the Blue Ice bats by retiring the side.
The Sassy Chicks continued their offensive charge with patient hitting and aggressive base running.
Stokes would walk the first two Sassy Chicks batters in the bottom of the second inning. Both runners moved around the bases at every opportunity, to put them in scoring position. Maddie Horton drove in Kassady Shaw for the first run of the inning. Kelsey Hockaday would reach base on a dropped third strike and later score on a wild pitch. Mattie Jamison would score the fifth run of the inning for the Sassy Chicks on a hit by Kaycee Patrick to end the top half of the inning.
The Blue Ice found success once again with the bats in the third inning. Bowden walked Kylla Hill of the Blue Ice to give them their first base runner of the inning. Bowden struck out the next batter, but walked the next two before recording her second strikeout of the inning. Ashley Wilbanks rose to the occasion for the Blue Ice with a shot to centerfield that scored Hill and Stokes. The Sassy Chicks ended the inning by tagging a Blue Ice runner out at home.
Patience was the key for the Sassy Chicks in the bottom of the third inning. They would have four players reach base on walks and one on a dropped third strike. All five base runners scored to end the inning on the five run rule.
Blue Ice struggled as the fourth inning started. The first two batters put the ball into play, but were out at first on both occasions. Melanie Kesterson reached base when she was hit by a pitch and gave the Blue Ice an opportunity to close the gap with the Sassy Chicks. Hill followed with a hit that got by the Sassy Chicks third baseman to move Kesterson into scoring position. Stokes, Fox and Charlotte Cothren drew walks scoring Kesterson and Hill. Bowden recorded the third out with a strike out to end the game.
