Scrapperettes move on to regional finals

ASHDOWN – The Nashville Scrapperettes went 2-0 Saturday during the regional tournament for the opportunity to face the Arkansas Baptist Lady Eagles for the second time in seven days.
Nashville, the number two seed from the 7-4A, will square off with the number one seed from 7-4A, Arkansas Baptist, to determine the top seed in the state tournament this weekend in Nashville.
Andi Reeves pitched two shut-outs.
She allowed two hits to the Lady Dogs of Star City while striking out 10 and walking one.
In the second game against Dewitt, Reeves scattered five hits, struck out three and walked none.
Dewitt had not been defeated by a 4A team all season, until their loss to the Scrapperettes in the semi-finals of the regional tournament.
Nashville touched Star City for nine hits.
Lady Dogs’ pitcher Brittany House struck out two and walked four. House also had the only two hits for Star City. She was stranded by Reeves at first after both its.
Shelly Renfrow drove in two runs for the Scrapperettes on a double in the fifth inning.
Reeves hit two singles and collected a RBI in the first inning to start the scoring for Nashville.
Nashville had four hits off of Dewitt pitcher Hallie Horton. Horton did not walk a single Scrapperette, but was able to strike out six.
Jessica Giachino scored the deciding run of the game in the second inning when she scored on a wild pitch after she hit a double to left field.
Whitney Finley would reach on an error to leadoff the third and score on a single by Brittany Pearson.
Pearson led the Scrapperettes at the plate for the day with three hits and two RBIs.
Giachino had two hits, reached base on a walk and drove in one run. Reeves had two hits and one RBI.
Katie Parrish and Amber Worley had two hits each for the day and Renfrow had a double, a walk and two RBIs.
Nashville will face the Lady Eagles of Arkansas Baptist in the finals Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Arkansas Baptist defeated the Scrapperettes 7-0 in the finals of the district tournament at Mena last Monday.
Both teams will play in Nashville in the state tournament with the winner earning the first place seed.
