ASHDOWN – Nashville defeated the Star City Bulldogs 3-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the regional tournament. The Scrappers will face conference rival De Queen Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Ashdown.

Nashville scored in the first inning when Tyler Serrano reached base on an error by the Bulldogs. Serrano stole second to move into scoring position. Serrano would score when Michael Nava would drive the ball past the Bulldog shortstop.

Nava would move up to second on a balk by Star City pitcher Breni Noble. Star City would end the inning on a strike’em out-throw’em out. Noble struck out Scrapper Luke Jamison and Nava was thrown out attempting to steal third.

Nashville would add an insurance run in the fifth. Lane Chism would be hit by a pitch with two outs. Pitcher runner Tyler Martin moved over to second when Noble committed his second balk of the game. Martin would score as Michael Milum drove the ball past the Bulldog third baseman.

Star City would threaten in the sixth by loading the bases with two outs, but Jamison enticed Noble to hit a fly ball to Milum at second to end the inning.

Nava led off the sixth inning with a triple to centerfield. Jamison drove in the RBI on a sacrifice fly hit to right field to give the Scrappers their winning margin 3-0.

Jamison struck out five and hit one batter for the win. Jamison faced only five batters over the minimum for the seven inning game.

Nava had the only hit for the Scrappers with a triple in the sixth.

Nashville took advantage of two errors committed by the Bulldogs to put runs on the board.

Nashville will play De Queen Monday and will play Tuesday in Ashdown before turning their sights to the state tournament in Jonesboro later this week.
