A Murfreesboro woman was allegedly robbed at the stop sign located at the intersection of Pine and Mauney Streets last Friday night.
According to Murfreesboro Chief of Police Mark Barnes, city officer Wayne Epperly responded to a call around midnight from 48-year-old Candyce E. Campbell.
According to Barnes, Campbell stated that when she stopped at the stop sign, two black males stepped in front of her car and blocked her way and a third black male threw a cinderblock through the back window of the car.
Campbell stated that the three men surrounded the car and she felt something “like a gun barrel” pressed to the back of her head and one of the alleged attackers told her to give him all of her money or he would kill her.
According to Barnes, Campbell gave the men $500 in cash and her ATM card. According to Campbell, the men then fled on foot.
Epperly found three pieces of broken cinderblock in the backseat of Campbell’s vehicle.
There were no witnesses to the crime, but Campbell gave a description of the men to Epperly. She described one man as being around 6-foot tall with a stocky build. He was wearing short-sleeved shirt with stripes and red shorts. The second man was described as being tall and skinny, wearing a white shirt and black pants. The third man was described as wearing a light colored shirt with khaki pants.
According to Barnes, the investigation is still open and if anyone witnessed the crime, they should report it to the Murfreesboro Police Department at 870-285-3533.
