Things shouldn’t be this good September 11, 2008 - No reporter cited

This is sad. Here it is Thursday morning and I have nothing to really complain about.

Usually by this time during the week, someone or something has set me off on one of my little tirades, so that I can vent to you about it. But not so much this week.

Everything seems to be going pretty good for the Jungle.

The Scrappers are winning and preparing for a big ballgame with Prescott. Who?, you may ask… The Curley Wolves of Nevada County?

They plan to come over to Nashville and claim a victory over the top ranked team in 4A in the state. They want to take our “Hill,” and they may have the talent to give Nashville a run for their money, but when was the last time you heard of a “Who” overcoming a Scrapper?

Dierks kicked off their season with an impressive win over the Panthers, but you may not have realized that by reading some of the secondhand reports that were published around the area.

Give credit where credit is due.

Drew Walston ran for the first touchdown of the game and then tossed the ball to Chase Mitchell for the second score of the game.

Justin Simmons helped start the rout in the third period by catching a touchdown pass on the first play of the second half.

Mineral Springs rebounded in the second half to defeat Norphlet.

They may not be the fastest team that Mineral has ever seen, but Coach Gary Segrest will get total effort from every player on the Hornet roster.

Gustav dropped a little rain and, yes, eight inches is a little rain, compared to the 15-20 inches that fell on other parts of the country.

And a hidden blessing from Ike was the postponment of the Arkansas-Texas game.

Maybe by the end of September, the Hogs will either be playing like champions under the dirction of Coach Petrino or they will be ready for the roasting that they were about to receive.

Everyone tells me to get ready for the other shoe to drop, but when your future looks this bright, you should go buy a new pair of shades.

And I am loving this presidential race.

Who could have seen the Sarah Palin pick by McCain? She came out of the blue, but she is causing the Democrats to see red.

After she was selected, all the media outlets must have felt bad about reporting that Palin’s daughter was expecting her first child, out of wedlock. So they are attempting to be more politically correct when reporting about her, and Obama and Binden can’t seem to say anything about her without being criticized for it.

I bet Obama is thinking Hillary would not have been a pretty good pick now.

I won’t tell you who to vote for, but I was taught that if you don’t vote, you have no right to complain. So vote and vent your frustration proudly.

I have a good friend that is a big Obama supporter and I love her passion to death. You go, girl. Hey, that sounded like something my 7-year-old would say.

Anyway, I could go on and on about how good things are, but I know someone would remind me that Monday is just around the corner.

But this is just my view from the canopy of the jungle.
