Twenty-one minute escape equals additional charges for Mount Ida manDanielle Cummings
Jeremy Golden, 21, of Mount Ida waited until an inmate went out the door to do some painting at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, when he followed out the open door, effecting a 21 minute escape attempt at 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5.
Golden, who was originally picked up on a charge of Theft of Property over $2,500, originally had a $5,000 bond. Golden has been additionally charged with Escape II, due to his attempts to break free of the bounds of the MCSO. Bond has been increased to $10,000 for a $15,000 total.
According to Chief Deputy Gary Hogue, Golden ran south after leaving the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He was sighted several times immediately after escaping and those calls helped to assist the Sheriff’s Office in detaining Golden.
Sheriff Adams was able to locate Golden near the Courtyard of the Housing Authority Apartments. Sheriff Adams “confronted him, demanded he give himself up and he went willingly,” according to Chief Deputy Hogue.
Golden is again secured in Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and awaits trial.
