Two killed in head-on crash on Highway 70 WestGLENWOOD – Two local residents were killed Sunday evening in a head-on collision on Highway 70 West right outside the Glenwood city limits near the Rock Creek Road cut-off.
Keith Markham, 43, of 151 Hwy. 84 West, Glenwood, was in a 2004 Nissan Sentra when he collided with Sarah Crump, 22, of 328 Kirby Landing Road, Kirby, who was driving a 1990 Mercury Cougar.
According to the Arkansas State Police report, the investigation was on going to determine the original direction each vehicle was travelling. There were no witnesses to the wreck, which occurred around 7:08 p.m. and due to the severity of the accident, state police could not immediately determine each vehicle’s direction.
The narrative of the report states that the two vehicles were approaching each other on U.S. 70 near Reynolds Road, just past Rock Creek cut-off. The vehicles collided head on in the west bound lanes.
According to the report, Crump was wearing a seatbelt, but Markham was not. Apparently, both victims died at the scene.
Weather conditions were clear at the time and the highway was dry according to Trooper Benjamin W. Harrison’s report.
Traffic was rerouted for over an hour onto the Rock Creek cut-off Road.
Markham and Crump were the 520th and 521st accident victims to be killed on Arkansas’ highways this year.
