GLENWOOD – Two local residents were charged with DWI in seperate incidents on Saturday, August 1, with one of the suspects fleeing the scene after being handcuffed and placed in the back of a Glenwood Police Car.

Glenwood officer Jeremy Collums was called to the Riverwood Inn around 9:30 p.m. on the first in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, he noticed tire tracks across the motel’s grass lawn.  The car had apparently stuck the ditch in front of the Riverwood Inn parking lot.

A woman identified as Deanna K. Boyd, 43, of Royal, was sitting in the car with the vehicle running and the lights on. The vehicle had minor front end damage from running in the ditch.

Captain Collums spoke with Boyd and noticed she had a strong odor of alcohol about her person. He administered several tests, which she failed.  Collums then put her under arrest for suspicion of DWI. She was cuffed and placed in the back of his unit while he searched her car.

When he returned to the unit, he noticed the back window was down and Boyd was gone.
